statement that described what you are seeking in regards to employment.
Most resumes follow this style since it is the accepted business
practice. This is probably fine for a new job seeker since they are
typically short on experience. However, a more dynamic approach would be
replacing the job objective with a resume profile. In essence you are
replacing a passive statement with an active one.
Instead of stating what you are seeking, inform the company what you are capable of doing for them. In this way, you are actively seeking a job within the firm instead of passively waiting for a response from them. This proactive approach is designed to get your resume noticed, separating it from the host of pages submitted for this position. But how do you go about accomplishing this task? Immediately identify who you are, your key abilities and most noteworthy accomplishment. These can be described in three to four sentences and are intended to demonstrate that you are a capable person worthy of an interview. The balance of your resume will act as supporting documentation to the profile. Let's look at an example of a resume profile.
Master's Degree in Education, seeking department chair in the Biological Sciences field. Ten years experience at the high school and Community level in both natural and physical Science. Served as Science Fair coordinator for the last five years with student involvement on the State level. Also served as Recording Secretary of NSTA for two years. Able to coordinate both large and small group activities. Proficient in Spanish . Doesn't that make more of a statement than Looking for a department chair position?.
